The university no longer accepts paper applications via mail or turned in on your behalf by someone else. The only way to apply now is online through the Minhatee i.e. scholarship program or in person. Please see http://admission.iu.edu.sa/IuAdvertisment.aspx

Now you can apply online and review application requirements on the official website of the Islamic University of Madinah.
http://admission.iu.edu.sa/Note.aspx
If you are going to visit Madinah, it is highly recommended that you apply in person.
Visit the university office of freshmen in the registration and admissions building with the required paper work. There you will fill out an application form. After you submit your paper work you will be interviewed.

May Allah make your affairs easy.

I have a question. Since the list of accepted students was released last month, why does the online application say it will still receive applications until January 2012 ? Jazakallah khair
madinah
This is the application period for the next batch. Wa iyyakum

Assalamualikkum, i have a few questions. can you still be accepted even if you dont translate the documents into arabic (applying online, i.e, when it says upload the translated documents, instead you upload the same documents that arent translated)? and are you guys able to help translate some documents? Jzakumuallahu Khair
madinah
The only way to find out is trying. We suggest that you follow the application instructions to increase your chances of getting accepted. We do not translate documents.
Ammaar
As Salaamu ‘Alaikum,
If you are applying and have not entered the KSA with your current passport, what is required for the passport copy? ID page, every page, or any other specific pages (blank page) JazakumAllahu Khayrun
madinah
Only the page with your information on it. If you are American, the first page that has your photo on it.
Ammaar
Also Do post-secondary degrees/transcripts need to be translated if completed? And are there any any places that you would recommend to translate documents, or can a local knowledgeable brother translate documents to avoid additional costs?
madinah
No, only your high school diploma and transcript need to be translated. Anyone who is able to translate the documents may do so. It does not need to be an official office and it does not have to cost you anything. We do not know any place, however, any Arabic speaker in your location should be able to help you.
Ammaar
JazakumAllahu Khayrun. 2 more points to inquire about, InshaAllah,
The testimony of conduct and the medical letter/report. Both of these are listed on the University website as required documents, but not listed above.
What should be stated in the testimony, since there wasn’t a description given on the website.
For the doctors letter, was it not listed above because it is not necessary?
madinah
We have answered this many times before.
The testimony of conduct is a document that states that you are illegible to study and that you are a good person.
There is a difference between the documents that must be turned in for applying and the documents that are required upon acceptance. Many people mix the two together.
Mubarak Issac
I am posting a comment from London. I wanted to ask a question concerning having to be a hafiz to do Quran studies. Is this true? Also what does it mean by communicable diseases? Jazakallahu Khair.
madinah
A person who wishes to enroll in the Faculty of Quran upon acceptance must be a Hafiz of Quran. If a person has not applied yet, he need not worry about choosing a faculty, this comes after acceptance. Memorizing the Quran is highly recommended for any one wishing to seek sacred knowledge.
If a person has AIDS or the type of Hepatitis that is contagious, he is not allowed to study in the IUM. This is why there is a medical exam before the visa gets issued and another one upon the student’s arrival in Madinah, to make sure he does not carry any contagious diseases.
The meaning of the word communicable as per dictionary.com is capable of being easily transmitted: a communicable disease.
IBRAHIM
Brother assalamu alaikum
when do you believe is the best possible time to apply for the 2013-2014 schol year
madinah
Apply as soon as you can because there is no guarantee that you get accepted once you apply.
Even if you were to get accepted for 2012-2013 you can request a delay of acceptance.
Our advice, just apply as soon as you can and wait to hear back from the university.
Ibrahim
Salaam
When do applications open for the 2012-2013 class?
madinah
It has been open and will continue to be until Feb/March 2012. Go to the website and apply if you wish to do so.
AbdulHadi
assalamulikum, i have one more question about the translating of documents, how is it supposed to look like, for example the passport, how would it look like translated? or anything of the required? jazakallhukhair. and also like for the high school diploma to be translated, do you just translate the english part into arabic, and what is it has signatures on the bottom or something and a picture. hope you understand inshallah. jazakallahukhair
madinah
The most important aspects of translating a document are:
To state the name of the document i.e. high school diploma
state the name of the person on the document i.e. the name of the graduate as it appears on the diploma
state the dates on the document i.e. date of graduation
state the name and location of the school i.e. where the person graduated from
There is no need to translate the signatures.
For a passport:
State the name of the document i.e. U.S.A. passport, the number of the passport, your name as it appears on the passport, your birth date, your nationality, your place of birth, the date the passport was issued and the expiry date, and the location where the passport was issued. Basically, the front page of your passport is what needs to be translated. The photo does not need to be translated.
We hope the answer is clear.

Salam Aliekum ……….. I am very interested in applying to the university .. to learn Arabic .. for 2012-2013 …… unfortunately I do not meet all of the universities requirements. I left high school one year before its completion. I left in year 11 . I finished with quiet decent grades though HUMDALLAH. I am 23 years old now but because I left school early I have been out of school 6 years now. Since leaving high school I have received a (certificate 3 in COMMUNITY SERVICES..)……… I did not revert to ISLAM till the age of 20 and was wondering if the university would take my situation into consideration if I apply I am thinking about flying over in Febuary to hand my application in in person if I can save up enough money in time INSHALLAH ..
madinah
You need to obtain/get a GED. If you do so, it will solve the problem of being out of school for 6 years because you would be back in school. Apply for a GED test and study to receive the diploma. You are within the age limit of 25. After you obtain the GED you will officially qualify for applying to the university. You may then apply online. If you are able to, you may also come to Madinah for an interview, after applying online.

Im a senior in highschool. You said its possible to apply whilst in highschool. Can you tell me how to and what do I turn in if not a diploma?
Also if I apply now will I be (if accepted In Shaa Allah) be on the 2012/2013 list or 2013/2013?
madinah
If you apply now you will be considered for 2012/2013.

I am a highschool senior I will In Shaa Allah be graduating this summer. You said its possible to apply whilst in highschool can you please tell me the procedure and what to turn in implying that your still in highschool?
Also is it true the younger and fresher out of highschool the better the chance?
Jazak’Allahu Khayr
Abu Layth Uthman
Also if I apply now which batch (if accepted in Shaa Allah) will I be in? 2012-2013 or 2013-2014?
madinah
You will be considered for 2012/2013 if you fulfill the application requirements.
madinah
We did not say a person can apply while in high school. It may be possible. As far as we know, a high school diploma is an application requirement. You can try applying with no diploma and see what happens.
The stated condition for acceptance is that no more than five years have passed since the applicant graduated high school.
ahmad
when will the 2012-2013 student acceptance list be published?…and if accepted will the arrival of the student be in jan. of 2013?
madinah
We do not know the future. This year the list came out in October and the students will arrive in the end of January, by the will of Allah.

Asslamu Alaikum Brothers.
I was wondering that maybe brothers in New York area might find very difficult to translate their documents into Arabic so here is a place if anyone needs a translation. “Amana Translation Services”
475 68th St. Brooklyn, NY 11220. and their phone # is 718-491-6456. If anyone is interested, you can call them and see what you can do. Wa salam.

Salam Aliekum.. I am from Australia and the GED test can only be sat in america. Do you know if there is a simalia test that can be sat in Australia … Thankyou for your help . Jzakallah
madinah
We are not familiar with the system in Australia. A GED takes the place of a regular high school diploma for those that do not have one for some reason.
Khalid El Jafoufi
As-Salamou’alaykoum,
I’ve 4 questions,
1)
I am from Belgium and I’m now in the 5th form of the secundary school. I am very interested in studying at the university . First of all to learn the Arabic language and afterwards to study in another faculty.
So I would like to apply for 2013-2014. But I don’t have my diploma yet. I’ll have it “Insha’Allah” on 30/06/13. But I don’t want to wait until then, because I would now be certain whether I will be accepted by then or not. What should I do best?
2)
When does the school year begin and when does it end and when are the holidays and the exam periods.
3)
How much does it cost to register for the university of Madinah?
4)
How do the new students find a room where they will sleep for the whole time of their studies in Madinah? I’ve heard that there are rooms with 2 persons and rooms with multiple people. Are the price differences low or not?
Djazaka’Allahou Ghairan !
madinah
If you do not have a diploma, how can you fulfill the application requirements?
If you wish to apply now, just do it. If the website does not allow you to apply without your diploma then you have no other choice but to wait until you receive it.
The school year begins in September of every year and ends in June. The holidays are the last ten days of Ramadan, ten days of Hajj and Eid, the two week semester break, and a one week spring break in the second semester.
It does not cost anything to apply to the university or study therein. Students who are accepted receive a full scholarship.
A student will be directed to his dorm room upon arrival to the university. The Student Affairs department is responsible for housing the students. The dorm room is part of the scholarship and hence it does not cost anything to the student.
May Allah make your affairs easy and guide you to do what pleases Him.

Dear Brother By Allah Azza Wa’Jaal Coming To Madinah To Learn Arabic For Me Is Like Going To Jannah…
I Have All The Document’s Required For The Application Just That High School Diploma Its Over 5 Year’s Old It’s About 6 Year’s Old,I’m 22 Year’s Old,Ive Seen Your Replies Above That I Will Need A GED Test,Insha’Allah I Will Do It…Do You Know How Long Is A GED Test Usually?
And Then If I Send The Paper’s Before 2012…What Are The Chances For Me To Get In To The Al Jamiyah Islamiyyah For The Year 2012? I wouldn’t Mind Coming For The Year 2013 Insha’Allah But 2012 Would Be The Best Year For Me.
May Allah Azza Wa’Jaal Reward You For Answering To All The Question’s Of The Brother’s And Sister’s With Jannat-ul-Firdaus…

Brother, just apply with your high school diploma. You are still within the age limit.
If you wish to take the GED test, you may do so. We do not know how long the GED test will take.
If you apply before March, you will be considered for the upcoming year. So if you apply before March 2012, you will be considered for the fall of 2012.
May Allah make your affairs easy and guide you to do what pleases Him.
adam
salam aliekum . In march 2012 inshallah I will be flying over to Madinah to hand in my application for the university in person. It will be very late march about the 20TH will this still be an acceptable date of application entry??. Also after the interview how long on average will it take for the brothers at the university to make there decision as to weather or not I will be accepted into the university. If accepeted when will classes begin ??
madinah
We suggest that you apply online ASAP, when you come to Madinah, you will have an interview.
The decision to accept student is usually announced between July-September every year.
The school year starts in September, if the student misses the first semester due to the acceptance being too late, the second semester starts at the end of January or early February.
albazie
akhi if i apply on jan. Or feb. 2012 via online application form the university accept it?? Pls i need your answer..

So That Mean’s I Can Still Apply With My High School Diploma Without The GED Test?
If I Can Apply Just With My Diploma Then Wallahi I’m The Happiest Person On Earth…

The high school diploma is what is required. For those who do not have one, the GED is another option.

This WEBSITE has been extremely helpful in helping me organise my paperwork for my application . May Allah(swt) reward everyone commited to helping this webite continue.
I should inshallah be able to send all the required documents through the on-line application by January 30 Th latest. Due to finance reasons I’m not sure weather I will be able to get to Madinah in March for the interview. If I cant make it in March but inshallah I can afford the trip by April early May … Will I still be allowed to sit an interview at the University or will the Interview stage of the application be closed when the on-line applications are closed. I am so eager to earn myself a position in this university that I want to do all I can to show my level of interest.
madinah
Yes you will be able to have a personal interview whenever you are able to make it to Madinah.
ali
Akhi, what if you have extremely poor grades in higschool… although i have graduated but my transcript doesnt look very good at all.. how much would that effect my acceptance?
madinah
Only Allah knows.
You may apply even if your grades were not so good.
If you do not wish to apply due to your bad grades you may get a GED and apply with that if your grades are any better.
Ibn_Mohammad
Salaam wa’alaykum,
I have an important question. I applied last summer, but I wanted to change some documents until I saw this on another site.
“Before you start an application make sure you have ALL the required documents in your possession along with their Arabic translations. Once you start an online application you will have 10 days to amend it. If you try to submit additional applications every single one of your applications will be cancelled, and no application will be accepted from you that year.”
Do I have problem? What can I do? Can you please help me?
JazakAllahoe gayran
madinah
You would have to ask the people on the other website.
Why would you want to change some documents?
Umer Farooq

Assalamou Alaikoum Wa Rahamtullahi Wa Barakatu
Barrack Allah feek akhi for your efforts in answering questions, and helping the ikwan.
I have two questions akhi.
1) If a brother does not have the finances to travel to madinah for the interview, does that necessarily mean hes not as likely to get a position within the university as apoose to someone who did come in for it?
2) I know theirs alot of talk of a womans faculty being open soon, Alhamdulilah im currently engaged in the moment Soon to be married inshaAllah, and im looking to apply to this university but with the possibility of bringing my wife as well. Even if their is no womans faculty is it still possible to briing a wife with you down?
Jazzakum allah khairun!
madinah
No it does not. Many people are accepted merely through applying online. It is not a condition to come in person for an interview. We said, it increases the chances of getting accepted in some occasions.
You are not able to bring your wife with you immediately once you are accepted except if she has other means of coming, like having a job with a resident visa. We will soon post past answers for this topic. Please read the posts on bringing your wife with you.
Luqmaan K
Assalyamu Aleykum Wa RahmatuLlah
JazzakumuLlahu Khairun May Allah reward you for what you are doing.
Forgive me for asking may be silly questions, but i was just curious. Does country you are coming from affect your chances of acceptance? And for school diploma, what does transcript mean?
May Allah preserve this Ummah
Assalyamu Aleykum
madinah
We do know that applicants from Muslim minority countries have a better chance of getting accepted. An example of this is applicants from South America. The reason for this is the fact that only a few people apply from these countries and hence the chances of acceptance increase. In countries that have a Muslim majority and where applicants are more, the chances of acceptance become less.
A transcript of grades is an official documents that states the subjects you studied in high school and the scores/grades you received. This document is usually given to prove that the graduate has successfully completed the required subjects for graduation.
abdelgany
salaam, I am 20 and am expecting to graduate with my bachelors degree in May of this year inshaAllah. I was hoping to work for a year or two to save up money after my graduation and then apply to the jaamia, could you go into more detail on the exceptions to the five year since high school graduation rule(I graduated high school in 2009) that are made for those who are enrolled in a post-secondary program? Jazakum Allah Khair.
madinah
The rule stands but if someone is still within the 25 years of age limit than that rule might be overlooked. It is ideal to apply before the five years have passed. Acceptance to the university is not automatic or guaranteed. If you wish to study you should apply as soon as possible even if you wish to work and make some money after graduation from college. For instance, if you apply in May of 2012 you will be considered for the 2013-2014 school year which would give you a few years to work and you would still be within the five year limit. In fact you will still be with it that limit until 2014.
Muhamad
Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah,
If I apply online before the deadline, can I still come to Madinah to interview once they stop accepting admission online? In other words, would I be able to interview in say March or April?
Jazakumullahu Khayran.

Yes
Muhammad Shakeel
Asslam o Alykum
I am from Pakistan and a college student in Part-II, I want to apply in Madinah university to study about real ISLAM and then communicate to other muslims. Please furnish me these clarifications:
1) Now I want to apply for 2012-2013 batch but till now our secondary school board did not delivered the shool certificate but I have mark sheet or transcript. I want to know can I apply with transcript only having detailed subjects with marks?
2) For interview if a student can not afford financially to come in Madinah then university will support? and the visit visa will university award for interview to come in KSA?
3) Is online interview possible?
Please clarify me above mentioned matters.
Asslam o alykum
madinah
You can try to apply with whatever documents you have and see if it works.
The university does not offer financial assistance to those who wish to come to Madinah for a personal interview, nor does it award visit visas. The interview is designed for the people who are already here on Hajj or Umrah.
If you apply online, an interview is not necessary.

Sorry i know you probably answered this question many times before, but i looked through the web site and could not find an answer. So where do i get testimony of conduct? And also it appears to me, to get accepted in Umm ul Qura one has to obtain government permission to study in Saudi Arabia. Is it condition for Al Madinah as well? Sorry for the same-type questions, i just want to be sure i have all my documents together and in complete state. May Allah Ta’alya reward you
madinah
Testimony of conduct could be obtained from any Islamic organization or known personality in your locality to testify that you are of good character.
You do not need the permission document to apply to Madinah.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah,
My high school diploma is from 2006 which is more then 5 years but i went to community college since then does that mean i have to bring college transcripts even though i didnt get a degree yet?
madinah
They do not care about your college education. They are only interested in your high school diploma.
Irfan El Maknun
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullah,
For admission purposes, what does it means my Testimony of Conduct and how it differs from Letter of Introduction/Recomendation from an Islamic Foundation or two eminent Muslims individuals?
Jazakumullahu Khayran

It is not really any different.
Omar
How about if i have no birth certificate
madinah
You would be missing one of the application requirements. Hence, you would not be able to apply.

Assalamou Alaikoum Wa Rahamtullahi Wa Barakatu
My question is if I apply let say around February or march of 2012 when will the acceptance come out or is it to late to apply.
my other question is do the university offer scholarships for those who want to travel for their interview but cant afford it.
madinah
If you apply before March, you will be considered for the next school year.
The university does not offer scholarships for those who wish to come to Madinah for an interview. A person must do so on his own by coming for Umrah or Hajj.
abu raha
does a US passport need to be translated into arabic?
please advice, if so when it asks to upload an image do we give it the english version or the arabic one?
madinah
What needs to be translated is your personal information page with your photo on it. It is only one page of the passport.
You should upload the original in one place and the translation in another if the website directs you to. If there is only one place for the upload, it would be for the original English.

Brother Asalam o Alekum
I just wanted to enquire if sisters can join this university?, if yes where can we find detailed information?
madinah
No, they can not at this time.
The Dean has announced that there will sometime in the future be a women’s section to the University, and was mentioned that the wives of the students will have the ability to apply.
As to ‘when’ this will happen, no timeline has been given.
There does exist a secular university which has an Islamic Studies division which is the neigboring university next to IUM. It’s called Tayybah University and sisters who have families with them have been known to study there. And Allah knows best.

السلام عليكم
Got a few questions for you:
1 – I was born in 1992 in Somalia, at the time the country was in war, and there wasn’t a recognized government or system. Because of that i don’t have a birth certificate. But i have a British Passport, which i got after we fled the country, through asylum seeker. What can i do?
2 – I’ve already attained my GCSE in London, but currently I’m in Kenya, Thika, studying in Thika College for Sharia and Islamic Studies. Firstly it’s my college recommendation enough , and secondly I’m currently not in my country, should I get my visa from Kenya or London. All my documents will be from Kenya since I’m studying here.
madinah
You have to try with what you have. Is there a way for you to get a document that states that you were born in Somalia on the date you were born on even if it is not an official birth certificate?
You have to ask the Saudi embassy in Kenya the second question about obtaining a visa.
You do not need any college documents. The recommendation might be useful but your grades are not needed.
Anwar Alhadi
“a document that states that you were born in Somalia on the date you were born on”
The British passport shows Place of Birth and Date of Birth.. although it only shows the city you were born in and not the country, would that not be enough to be treated as birth certificate for those whom do not have it ?
أشكرك مسبقا على اهتمامك ورغبتك في المساعدة.. وفقنا الله وإياك
madinah
It must be a different document.

As salam oealaykom, I have a question I’m still in college and about a year from now I inshallah can get my certificat from school. Is it possible to apply now for the year 2013 – 2014 en hoy do I di that, and another qeustion about the testimony of conduct, what if I don’t get the document cause I made a little problems in the past but now I alhamdoulilah did TAUWBA, is their any way of still getting accepted without the testimony of conduct. May Allah reward you with the highest of the paradise,
Salam oelaykom
ps: I’m from holland so my english is not so good, i’m sorry!
madinah
Apply after March and you will be considered for the 2013-2014 school year.
Testimony of conduct is how you are now, not in the past. If an Imam or Islamic organization in your community write something to state that you a good person it should suffice.
It is a requirement for the application so you must have it.

what does it mean when it is saying that “maximum upload file 1MG”

madinah
It might or it might not.
madinah
Sometimes the person who interviews you speaks English. If not then a student will help you out if necessary.
Do not worry about the interview, it is not what you think it is. It is very simple and easy.

Please inform me the closing date for 2012/2013 application, is it end of January or in February?
madinah
What we know is that the deadline is somewhere between February and March. At any rate, if you turn it in too late it will be considered for the next academic year.

Assalamu Alaikum,
At the part in the application where it asks you to start scanning the documents, the first document it asks is the ID. After browsing the uploading a picture of the ID and clicking “continue”, it still asks for the same document. I have constantly tried and it does not continue to ask to upload the other documents and seems to be stuck. Is this a bug or is there something I am doing wrong?
JazakamAllah Khair
madinah
You do not need to upload an ID, that is only for Saudi applicants. Do not check the box next to the ID and you will be able to upload the other things.
abu Musa
Asalamu Aleikum brother….
I recently finish my Application online but i had a question.. I read all your post and you said If you apply before March, you will be considered for the next school year. I applied a couple days ago but the website says applying for 2013-2014… not 2012-2013 why is that? Also im planing on coming for Umrah on the 16th of February, when i go for the interview im i going to be considered for 2013-2014 since the website application is on accepting 2013-2014.
madinah
We do not really know, that is a question that you can ask the official university staff that will interview you.
Ahmed Al-Ansari
As-salaamu Alaykum, I personally know an American brother who is currently a student at the Jamiyy’ah and with whom I have regular contact. I am planning on making Umrah in March and was wondering if you would recommend applying online now or waiting to applying in person when I get to Madinah with the help of the student I already know there inshaAllah? In addition to submitting all the correct translated documentation, would having a verbal or written recommendation from a current student in good academic standing improve my chances of being accepted?
BarakAllahu Feekum for your assistance.
madinah
Apply now online, because they will ask you to do that when you come for a personal interview anyway.
Only Allah knows what improves your chances. Try all your options and do what you can and then leave it.

Is it also possible to apply with a Bachelor of Commerce degree? I’m also 26 yrs…
I hope to hear from you, Baraka Allah oe fieq

The university does not care for your higher degree, their requirement to apply is a high-school/secondary school diploma
Ibn zaher
Salam Akhi,
Im lebanese, I was just wondering If im applying from Canada, and I have a letter of reccomendation from lebanon, is that okay? Or does it have to be 2 community members in the place your residing in now?
Barrack Allahu Feek brother
madinah
You may use any letters of recommendation, no matter where the source is on the map.
You do not need to re apply.

How long is the period for adjusting your application. Mine was submitted over 2 weeks ago, yet when I do the inquiry it still gives me the option to amend it.
JazakAllah Khair.
madinah
We do not know that.
